Picea abies

Norway Spruce

Norway Spruce is one of the best evergreens for windbreaks and privacy. Dense dark green needles with drooping branches make it a graceful and attractive ornamental evergreen. Norway Spruce transplants easily, grows quickly, and thrives despite harsh conditions such as seasonal drought and cold, harsh winter weather. They will tolerate poor soils, including clay, dry, or rocky soils, but perform best in moist, well-drained, and acidic soils. Plant 4 to 6 feet apart.
